Trying to choose a cover photo to demonstrate our thanksgiving was difficult this year.
A gorgeous broccoli crown? Farm beds rejuvenated and replanted after Harvey? Healthy animals? The support of so many people for our CSA and farm stand market? Our new rescue puppy? The Moody Garden trainers who work with the goats each week? Foundations here on the Island who have trusted our mission enough to help fund us?
Or perhaps the privilege of sharing our passion for healthy food with so many people. The smiles of our friends at Streetscape when we haul in bags of veggies and greens.
Any and all of those would have worked just fine (and we have photos below demonstra-ting them all), but our real “from the heart thanks” unequivocally goes to our volunteers. The young man in the photo above is part of the Kingwood UMC confirmation class who volunteered one Sundayafternoon following confirmation services at Central UMC here on the Island, at 33rd and 0-1/2 (whose members also volunteer at our farm). He is representative of the dozens of groups and individuals to find their way to the farm to help support our mission. They keep the motors going, the water flowing, the bugs at bay, the animals fed, the produce harvested, the boxes delivered and so much more. They put smiles in our hearts.
