One project that the confirmation students helped build and plant was our massive bamboo trellis, supported by rebar, that was going to be the home for dozens of green bean plants.  We even had the students plant some marigolds to keep away insects and provide a spot of color in our farm entrance.  All went well until a windstorm blew up in late October and over she blew. Sort of like our farm stand pop-up tents.

We had better luck with continuing renovations at the Market Street Community Garden. The Greenies, a dedicated group of medical students from UTMB, built a gorgeous low fence for gardening along the fence line and then filled it with many many bags of soil. The Greenies tackle a project for us every few weeks, and their esprit de corps is awesome! This week’s volunteers were, front row from left, Aspen Stewart, Mercedes Hernandez, Cristel Aldrete, Shelby Ellis, Lauren Savage and Kim Leschber. Back row includes Dan White, Gabe Apfel and Anna Fields. The photo was taken by Victoria Cooremans who, with Gabe, are group coordinators this year. Thanks guys/gals!!!
