Seeding Galveston is primarily about establishing urban/community farms and raising locally grown and chemical free fruits and vegetables for Island residents while simultaneously reducing the number of vacant lots that are often an eyesore at best and a haven for crime or reduced property values.
Nonetheless, the founders of Seeding Galveston envision other complementary programs to spread the word about healthy, homegrown foods. These programs will include classes, an Agricorps project and outreach efforts. The “value added” of these programs is depicted in the matrix below.
